Brains for dementia research
Brains for Dementia Research is a world-class brain tissue resource, providing researchers with gold-standard human brain tissue along with associated clinical data, genomics, and congnitive and lifestyle assessments to support their studies. We can also provide iPSCs and fibroblasts.
UK-based studies using Brains for Dementia Research tissue and data will be covered by our generic approval, meaning studies can proceed without requiring their own ethical approval.
Assessments
We collect a battery of assessments, including physical, lifestyle, and congnitive scores.
Blood Samples
We collect blood samples periodically from living participants
Brain tissue / CSF / SC
Post mortem brain tissue is available, as well as CSF and spinal cord.
Clinical data
We collect clinical data in-vivo and get full medical records post-mortem which are summarised and anonymised.
Genomics
Genomics data is available for the entire BDR cohort
Pathology
We perform standardised post-mortem pathology on all cases in our collection
Stem Cells / fibroblasts
We can provide cell lines, iPSCs, and fibroblasts
